We are working on our next e-book for children… it is called, “Grapes are Great!” by Tricia Striano, PhD.  In the Grapes are Great book, parents will learn about the way that social cues influence child eating behaviors.  Children will enjoy the well designed images and activities.   Going on a summer trip?  Remember your sunscreen and plenty of e-books on your ipod! The Eyes and Expressions book was inspired by various studies that my research lab conducted in recent years.   In one study, we asked infants about the types of social cues that they used to make decisions about a new event.   As shown in the photo below, we placed infants on a visual cliff – a novel plexiglass surface that gives them the impression of depth.  We thought that infants would rely on their mother’s facial cues when deciding whether or not to cross.   Our results were somewhat more complex.  Read about them in the paper we list above – or just feel free to join us for a discussion on May 24th.
